Arrival & Registration
Retreat participants arrive and register from 3:00pm to 5:30pm with followed by dinner at 6pm.

Departure
The retreat concludes at 10am on the final day.

Accommodations & Amenities
Single room accommodations include private bathrooms and heating and air conditioning units.

Spiritual Direction is one of the many offerings here at Miramar and comes from a long tradition of women and men throughout the centuries seeking to have a deeper relationship with God. This type of spiritual companionship provides an opportunity for seekers to notice and reflect on the many ways God is daily longing to capture our hearts with love, serenity and joy in scripture, nature, music, art and so much more. God is always longing to get our attention and when our mystical hearts are awake and open to God’s longing we STOP, LISTEN, SAVOR AND ARE MOVED TO PRAY!

In Spiritual Direction we share with the director what has been happening in our daily lives and how we have noticed and experienced God in the everyday moments of our life. It is an opportunity to share the God of our experience with a director. A director may ask “What was God like as you watched the sunset?”, “What were you feeling when Jesus said “What are you looking for?”, “Tell me more about what it was like when you felt God as you sat with Tanner’s painting of the Annunciation.”

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction can also help us to be more aware of our inner responses and reactions to the movement of God in our life. Sometimes we may feel great joy and consolation accompanied by a deep interior peace and other times we may feel anxious, afraid and confused. These feelings are real and the very stuff of discernment that helps us to grow in intimacy with God. It is about noticing more deeply what moves us toward God and God’s desires personally and communally. It is also about noticing what moves us away from God’s desires.

If you have a felt desire to go deeper in your relationship with God, it may be a wake-up call from God to seek spiritual direction, a ministry offered here at Miramar and many other places.

Typically companionship meetings take place on a monthly basis for about 9 sessions per year or for as long as a person feels that this type of companioning is helping them to grow in their relationship with God.

We offer a sliding scale of payment for this ministry:  $40-$75.  However, if this is not within your means, please give what you feel is possible at this time. Spiritual direction is, in reality, nothing more than a way of leading us to see and obey the real Director—the Holy Spirit hidden in the depths of our soul.
